team up to child safety, think child safety and act safely

The Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Southern Africa (CAPFSA) has produced this resource pack for your use. Enclosed in this resource pack you will find the following information:

Content:
 • A press release from CAPFSA.
 • A CAPWeek poster to promote the week.
 • A range of safety leaflets from CAPFSA.
 • Safety leaflets from other organisations.
 • Order forms.
 • The information in this resource pack should assist you with planning your own child safety    programme/ activity for the week.

What can you do?
You can “Team up to Child Safety” with organisations that work in your community. Use the Child Accident Prevention Week to launch a new activity or run a special event.

The following are just are just a few examples of activities that you could engage in to promote accident prevention during CAPWeek:
 • Organise safety awareness/ publicity events at key sites such as your clinic, hospital, school,    community centre, library or shopping centre.
 • Run safety talks for groups of parents/caregivers in your community.
 • Give a safety talk at your local school or to the local Parent Teacher Association.
 • Contact your local/ community newspaper or radio station to publicise the week and/or your event    that you are planning.
 • Organise a march in your community promoting the importance of accident prevention.
 • Arrange a safety poster competition at your local school.

For CAPWEEK, CAPFSA plans to
 • Distribute educational safety resources nationally.
 • Exhibitions at Red Cross Children’s Hospital and Groote Schuur Hospital.
 • Media coverage.
